This is so NOT what Kingston needs or wants to see happen. Protecting our cultural and heritage assets should be one of RBKs priorities, above economics. This is a short sighted move... One of the key tasks for developers, politicians and residents is to understand what makes a town’s identity unique and recognizable. Since identity is directly related to the ‘character’ of an area, which matures over time, this is certainly not an easy task to achieve instantaneously... Tonight the Kingston Upon Thames Society announced the winners of the biennial Tony Leitch Townscape Awards...
While we are non partisan - we do operate in a context of political bodies and decision making that has huge influence over our built environment.
Our challenge is how to shine a light on this, and raise our conerns without ourselves falling into the mire. Maybe it is not possible, but lets try... Some thoughts as we head towards the Decision
