Open Letter to RBK Councilors
From a constituent
15th June 2015
Dear RBK Councilors ,
If you haven't already, please take the time to read through the objections raised by residents on the Kingston Residents' Alliance website: KingstonResidents.com
I'm one of the many residents from all over the borough and beyond who are very concerned about this inappropriate development.
We get the need for housing, development and regeneration of this area. We like the fact that St George have spent time consulting on the old buildings and allocating community space. We welcome those initiatives. But this is plain over-development, too much is being asked of this site in this application.
Contrast this with St George’s ‘Fortress Wapping’ London Dock towers proposal: After 18 months of negotiations Tower Hamlets Council achieved a one third lowering of the tower and doubled the Affordable Housing provision. Councilors - you should be fighting for the same for us. Please don't be quick and easy, help residents fight for a development on a human scale. Don't let this go ahead and set a precedent for this and the other sites to swamp our beautiful market town character, ruining our historic views. These generic buildings wont improve our skyline by any stretch of the imagination.
Stop this inappropriate development while you still can.
Sincerely,
Your constiuents
