The politicians of Royal Borough of Kingston who think the ordinary residents of this vibrant and intelligent town cannot organise a campaign without a secret Political Party affiliation, this message is for you...
Kingston Council is about to give consent to over-develop the sensitive Old Post Office site in the centre of the historic Royal Kingston Upon Thames. And all you want to talk about is if the KRA is party political or not!!
We are getting tired of defending KRA ‘s lack of partisan allegiances.
This is exactly why people don’t like politicians. They are not interested in what ordinary people say unless they speak with a party rosette.
Just to reiterate, we are just residents. Unlike most of you, we are not professional planners, developers or career politicians and we ARE cross party! We live everywhere in Kingston and include people who vote for all and every political party.
Most of the time, it has been a case of David versus several Goliaths, as we have campaigned, without access to funds or professional advice, against the corporate resources of St George and its supporters within the Council. When we have met with Councillors for advice and information, the only result is to be accused of hidden political affiliation.
During our campaign we have been accused of all sorts of clandestine allegiances. Not to mention being threatened by the Leader of Kingston Council, Kevin Davis:

Yet we still managed to achieve so much, all from our own time and money, without costing the taxpayer a penny.
We have met and will continue to meet local Councillors and our MP, not because we support them, but because their job is to help and advise local residents. We pay their salary.
It is our democratic right to expect that the objections of ordinary residents are not just heard but our views are also acted upon by our elected representatives.
This Includes our extremely quiet MP James Berry and Councillor ‘We need to talk about Kevin’ Davis, with his job share between Professional Planning Consultant and Council Leader.
Please remember, Kingston has already suffered from more than its fair share of bad council decisions from the past.

No matter what party you may come from, we all should resist the 19-storey tower blocks with 15% affordable housing in the heart of the historic Town Centre next to a Conservation Area.
So one last time: KRA is a large group of very concerned Kingston residents who sincerely believe the mistakes of the past are about to be made again.
WE ARE NOT AGAINST DEVELOPMENT IN OUR BOROUGH BUT IT SHOULD BE SUSTAINABLE AND AT AN APPROPRIATE SCALE. MOST IMPORTANTLY, LOCAL RESIDENTS’ WISHES AND CONCERNS SHOULD BE RESPECTED BY OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES.
Come and support us on Tuesday 2nd June 2015 7.30 pm @ Guildhall
