On 14th January 2016 St George submitted their fourth proposal for the Old Post Office Site redevelopment in central Kingston. The councils' 3 week re-consultation process re-opened...
We have looked at the proposal, but most of our earlier concerns still apply.
However this time the focus is on addressing the 3 reasons given for refusal on the 5th of November.
Changes
The Full Application is now available on the council website.
St George explains how they hope the changes resolve the 3 reasons for refusal in their Design Amendments document which is uploaded in 3 parts:
We have updated the Old Post Office page with our response.

Changes
- The tower is essentially the same but now has red brick to Brook Street and yellow stock brick to Wheatfield Way elevations;
- The 12 storey Ashdown Road building between the two listed buildings is lowered in height from 12 to 8 storeys. It is reduced in depth, removing the colonnade. Its plain exterior is replaced with a ‘Victorian look’. St George have extended this exterior look around Wheatfield Road.
- An increase in the number of 3 bedroom flats from 33 to 37 which increases the proportion of 3 bed flats from 10% to 12%.
- 19 fewer flats.
- ( the whole site is now owned by St George )
