What we said In opposition we attempted to present the following topics in the short time given: 1. Impact 2. Affordable housing 3. Heritage 4. Urban design 5. Visualizations 6. Aesthetic design 7. What could be acceptable What we showed We played a Sun shade analysis video - to show shadows cast by the proposal through the day and seasons. It highlighted the devastating lack of sunlight the proposed Post Office Square would receive. | Who came Over 220 concerned residents filled the Guildhall, the overflow room, the corridor outside and beyond. The strength of their opposition soon became obvious as they responded to what was being said. Dame Jacqueline Wilson attended in opposition. Members of the local press attended and provided a live stream of online updates and tweets What we think We did our best on the night. We are frustrated with the process. We hate that politics keep getting in the way. We remained concerned that despite an overwhelming opposition case; and the massive doubts and cracks in what is being proposed, despite all that, we worry that our elected council could make one of the biggest mistakes of their lives and let this proposal go ahead its current form. Its not over. Thanks Thank you to everyone who came; and for continuing to do what you can either visibly or behind the scenes: to oppose this current scheme. |
