Major Planning application - Canbury Business Park, Bounded by Canbury Park Road/ Elm Crescent/Cowleaze Road (Ref 17/12877)
CNM Estates has submitted a proposal for what amounts to a mini-TOPO, right behind the Regal Cinema (which itself is an on-going CNM project, still shrouded in scaffolding awnings after over a year), on the site of the existing Canbury Business Park (CBP). Plans include demolishing all the existing buildings in Canbury Business Park to make way for a seven-storey building comprising offices and as well as a 14-storey building comprising offices, a medical centre and 302 flats.
Site is located within the setting of three Grade II listed buildings, the former Gala Bingo Hall (Kingston Regal), the Former Sopwith Aviation Company Factory and the Former Hawker Aircraft Experimental Shop.

SIte includes a vacant office building, ground level retail units including the Post Office, BoConcept and the Hippodrome nightclub.
The site sits within the Kingston Council's Eden Quarter Development Area Brief (2015) and follows the same planning and policy context used by St George's and British Land's plans in the same area. If goes ahead Kingston Town centre will have additional 1,000 residential units with no additional infrastructure commitment by the developers.
